Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments

Picture
The Code for Sustainable Homes is the principle means of assessing the sustainability credentials of new homes . It is based on a  system of credits contributing to an overall Code level of 1 to 6.

Some argue that it is over complicated, it duplicates other assessments and places an unnecessary burden on housebuilders. We  support that argument in part, but think that whilst there is no good alternative, the Code makes a very positive contribution.  We do our best to build an assessment that is the best fit for you and your buildings.

It is a requirement of some planning authorities and funding bodies to achieve a certain Code level in new residential buildings. You are recommended to check at the earliest opportunity the requirements for your build,  and to contact a Code Assessor as soon as you can, so that Code requirements can be integrated early in the design process.

The Code for Sustainable Homes itself can be downloaded from the Department of Communities and Local Government website Here
